Great Scott - You’re Still Getting Paid Like It’s 1938

SHOUTOUT: DailyPay just hit the gas on the future of pay — and Branded is riding shotgun into hospitality.

DailyPay is the newest corporate partner to join the Branded family, and I couldn’t be more fired up to champion them across our industry. Their mandate is simple and overdue: let people access the pay they’ve already earned, when they’ve earned it. Ours mandate is just as simple. We want to help them accelerate, and put their story in front of every operator who should be paying attention. (Spoiler: that’s all of us.)

This month, DailyPay launched a campaign called “The Future of Pay,” narrated by none other than Christopher Lloyd, aka Doc Brown himself. The man who built a time machine out of a DeLorean is here to ask a question that should sting a little: you can order groceries, stream a movie, hail a ride, and move money in seconds, so why are workers still waiting days or weeks to touch pay they’ve already earned?

The punchline writes itself. We’re paying people on a schedule built in the late 1930s and Mr. Lloyd, who was born in 1938, is the perfect messenger to say it out loud. The future showed up everywhere except payday. That’s not a tech problem anymore. It’s an inertia problem.

Now, why does this land so hard in hospitality specifically? B/c this is our reality on the floor every single shift. Ours is an hourly, tip-driven, paycheck-to-paycheck workforce. This is about the people plating the food, running the pass, and closing the bar at 2 a.m. As longstanding operators ourselves (and a former barback, busboy, waiter, and bartender) we know the math: when an employee can reach earned wages before the next pay run, they lean less on overdraft fees and payday lenders, and they feel a little more in control of their lives. That’s not a soft benefit. That’s dignity with a direct-deposit button.

And for the house? It’s a recruiting and retention weapon in the one industry that bleeds turnover. DailyPay already serves more than 1,900 employers and over 6mm employees, and it ranked as the top-adopted financial wellness benefit among the employers who offer it. In a labor market where every great line cook has options, “get paid when you want” is the kind of differentiator that keeps people on your team instead of the one down the block.

This is exactly the kind of partner Branded exists to back, a category leader solving a real problem for real workers, with a brand bold enough to put Doc Brown in the driver’s seat (too much?).

We’re proud to be working with DailyPay and champion them to operators who deserve to hear it. The future of pay doesn’t need 1.21 gigawatts. It just needs the rest of the industry to catch up.
